Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS is expanding its retail footprint with a new standalone store in Chicago’s Gold Coast, according to reports. The store, located at 1000 N. Rush St, places the brand alongside luxury retailers such as Prada, Balenciaga, and Marc Jacobs.

Previously available in Chicago only at Nordstrom on Michigan Avenue or online, this new flagship will offer a dedicated shopping experience for SKIMS’ popular shapewear, loungewear, and apparel.

The building was acquired by Chicago-based developer L3 Capital for $21.5 million, reflecting the high-profile retail interest in the area. The new SKIMS store will also be near iconic Chicago restaurants like Gibson’s Bar and Steakhouse, LUXBAR, and Maple & Ash, further cementing Rush Street as a luxury shopping and dining destination.

Launched in 2019, SKIMS has evolved into a multi-billion-dollar brand, with retail partnerships that include Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Selfridges, and Net-a-Porter, as well as collaborations with the NBA, WNBA, and Nike. The Chicago opening marks a significant retail expansion as SKIMS continues to solidify its global presence.

After a two-year hiatus, Carmine’s is set to make its highly anticipated return to Chicago’s Gold Coast this spring. The iconic Italian restaurant, previously housed at 1043 N. Rush Street, has undergone a $4 million redevelopment, with the new space debuting in late May at 1037 N. Rush Street.

The redesigned 10,000-square-foot restaurant will feature a second-floor dining space with an outdoor terrace and bar, offering year-round seating overlooking Mariano Park and Rush Street. The ground floor of the new building will be occupied by Swiss sportswear brand On, marking a shift in the area’s evolving retail and dining landscape.

While the updated menu is still under wraps, Rosebud Restaurants confirms that Carmine’s will bring back its signature dishes alongside new offerings inspired by other Rosebud locations.

The restaurant’s revival follows significant changes to Rush Street, including the transformation of the former Tavern on Rush into Bellevue, further solidifying the area as one of Chicago’s premier dining destinations.
