Bob's Discount Furniture Rides 8.8% Sales Jump Into Two New States

Bob's Discount Furniture is turning a strong second quarter into fresh territory, entering South Carolina and laying the groundwork for a Tennessee debut as it pushes toward a long-range goal of more than 500 stores.

The value furniture retailer opened four showrooms in Q2, including its first two South Carolina locations — its 27th state — plus two more stores in the Charlotte area, bringing its North Carolina footprint to eight. Four Tennessee stores are planned for the back half of the year, part of roughly 20 openings targeted for 2026, or about 10% unit growth on its current base of 218 showrooms.

The expansion comes on solid footing. Net revenue rose 8.8% year over year to $619.6 million, comparable sales grew 2.3% on stronger conversion and higher average order values, and e-commerce climbed nearly 25%. Net income jumped to $57.8 million from $35.2 million a year ago, helped in part by $45.1 million in tariff refunds.

"We continue to see a clear path to more than 500 stores by 2035," said CEO Bill Barton, noting that traffic outpaced the industry despite macro headwinds, with "some green shoots" emerging in select markets. The company reaffirmed full-year guidance of $2.6 billion to $2.625 billion in revenue.

For landlords, the takeaway is a rare bright spot in big-ticket retail: a furniture chain with a funded, decade-long growth runway actively hunting sites in new Southeastern markets.
