Push to Revive West Pearl Street Closure Gains Momentum in Boulder

A group of Boulder residents is gathering signatures for a 2025 ballot measure aimed at closing two blocks of West Pearl Street to most vehicles, echoing a pandemic-era move that expanded outdoor dining. The proposal has reignited tensions between those advocating for pedestrian-friendly public spaces and business owners concerned about lost parking and potential revenue impacts. If passed, the measure would create a dedicated “community space” between 9th and 11th Streets, allowing only commercial and emergency vehicles while leaving the fate of public transit access uncertain.
